Uber is a global ride-hailing and technology platform that connects passengers with drivers. Since its inception, Uber has expanded into food delivery, freight logistics, and electric scooters and bikes. Uber has revolutionized the way people get around, by essentially making on-demand transportation as easy as tapping a button.
The engagement
What is concurrency?
Why is it important to Uber?
I was brought on to collaborate with Uber on a quick project focused on the on trip concurrency experience. Strategy and customer research had already been done. I synthesized the learnings into the next version of the trip widget.
The concept that users should be able to run multiple activities on Uber at the same time.
Ensures users can explore and discover additional offerings while taking a ride.
The on-trip moment has high potential for discovery
Boosting trip visibility will unlock the ability for riders to browse freely through the app and engage with more content.
The Original Concurrency Experience
What we heard from customers and how we approached it:
What we heard:
Confusion around how to navigate between the trip experience screen and home
Not enough insight into their trip to give them confidence to navigate away from the trip experience screen.
Our approach
Clarify visually that the widget is a collapsed version of the trip experience screen
Help users feel assured they have the most current view into their trip
Improve the ingress between the two screens
Evolved Concurrency Experience
